Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling, has said that forward, Alexis Sanchez‘s move to the Red Devils is ‘big welcome’ for the squad.
Sanchez completed the first part of his medical with the club yesterday and is expected to finalise his move in the next 48 hours once he’s granted a work permit.
Smalling believes the Chilean’s arrival will give the rest of the squad a huge boost in the Premier League and in the Champions League.
Smalling told Metro UK: “We all know it’s [the deal for Sanchez is] probably close,” he said.
“Until it’s done, it’s done. Any new addition that could strengthen our squad is a big welcome.”
Sanchez was spotted at Old Trafford on Sunday night and appeared to be celebrating his move.
The 29-year-old has been handed United’s coveted number 7 shirt, which last worn by Memphis Depay who vacated the shirt in January, 2017.
United trail rivals, Manchester City by 12 points at the top of the Premier League table but signing Sanchez is a rare victory for Jose Mourinho’s men over Pep Guardiola’s side this season.
