Jos — Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested a 30-year-old man, Yahaya Mohammed, over suspected links to kidnapping syndicate operating in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Mohammed was reportedly arrested at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, following intelligence about the movement of suspected kidnappers who had allegedly collected ransom from their victims.
According to security sources, troops Intercepted the suspect in a forested area and discovered N1,925,000:00 cash inside a large bag he was carrying.
During preliminary questioning, Mohammed reportedly claimed that the money was proceeds from the sale of cattle. However, security sources said he was unable to provide sufficient evidence to support the claim.
The suspect is currently in military custody as investigations continue to determine the source of the money and whether he has any connection with the kidnapping activities in the area.
The suspect remains an allegation-based at this stage, and his connection to kidnapping has not been established by the court.
