US President Donald Trump was seen strolling along the White House roof on Tuesday morning August 5, and jokingly told reporters he was considering installing “nuclear missiles” there.
He made the appearance at approximately 9.40a.m. local time, an hour after Secret Service members were seen taking precautions, including placing counter-snippers atop the West Wing.

The President exited a door leading from the state Dinning Room to the roof of the briefing at 10.45a.m, making several gestures, dubbed weird on social media, from the White House roof.
Initially claiming he was “just taking a little walk”, Trump then laughed and mimicked launching a projectile, saying he was looking to place missiles on the roof.
Trump, 79, who has already completed several renovation projects at the White House, said he plans to add more – including a privately funded $200 million ballroom in the East Wing, which he hopes to finish before leaving office.

Walking on the Westside of the White House -directly above the press briefing room, Trump noted the area wasn’t meant for the ballroom but didn’t confirm If new construction was planned there.
When questioned about his presence on the roof, Trump responded that he was “taking a little walk” and mentioned that the ballroom on the “other side”.
In July 2025, the White House revealed that construction of a new collosal $220 million ballroom – the first structural alteration to the Executive Mansion since the Truman balcony was added in 1948 – would commenced in September. One of the five men accompanying him seemed to be James McCrery, the architect for project.
“Just another way to spend my money for this country” Trump commented, “Anything I do is financed by me”.
