President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa against efforts to diminish the dominance of the U.S. dollar in international trade.

Trump criticized discussions about a potential BRICS currency or the use of other currencies to replace the dollar, threatening steep tariffs on countries that proceed with such plans.

In a statement, Trump said, We require a commitment from these countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency nor back any other currency to replace the mighty U.S. dollar, or they will face 100% tariffs.”

He further asserted that nations attempting to replace the dollar should “wave goodbye to America.”

Trump emphasized the U.S. dollar’s central role in global trade and warned that the U.S. economy would no longer accommodate nations undermining it.

His comments come amid growing speculation about BRICS countries’ ambitions to challenge the dollar’s supremacy, as the bloc explores alternatives to reduce reliance on the U.S.-dominated financial system.
