Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a speech on Friday during the 5th Conference of the League of Parliamentarians for Jerusalem in Istanbul. The conference, titled “Freedom and Independence for Palestine,” saw the participation of parliament speakers from various countries. Erdogan used the platform to call on nations to raise their voices against the actions of Israel in the Gaza Strip, describing them as crimes.
In his address, Erdogan criticized the United States for its unwavering military and diplomatic support to Israel. He specifically mentioned the recent approval by the U.S. Senate of a military aid package for Israel, expressing his disapproval of this decision.
Erdogan praised the League of Parliamentarians for Jerusalem, considering it a global advocate and representative of the Palestinian cause. He urged countries to take more substantial measures to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians.
The president highlighted Turkey’s active role in providing aid to Gaza, emphasizing that nearly 50,000 tons of humanitarian supplies have been sent by Turkey since the crisis began on October 7 of the previous year. Additionally, Turkey has imposed export restrictions on Israel in 54 product groups.
