Two Chinese expatriates have been kidnapped by suspected gunmen in Ishiagu, Ivo Local government area of Ebonyi state

The incident has been reportedly confirmed by the police commissioner in Ebonyi, Awosola Awotinde.

Awotinde, however, promised that the victims will be rescued as soon as possible, saying that the police are on the trail of the suspected kidnappers.

Meanwhile, the four Turkish expatriates who were kidnapped by gunmen in Gbale, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara, have been rescued by the police.

The victims had spent six days with their abductors before a police team secured their release on Friday evening from the hide out of the kidnappers at Gbugbu community in the state.

Addressing newsmen at the police headquarters in Ilorin, the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said the police had been on the trail of the kidnappers since the incident was reported.

Egbetokun explained that a combined team of the IGP Tactical Squad, the anti-robbery team as well as members of the Miyyeti Allah and the vigilance group in the area had intensified their search for the expatriates.

Earlier, The Herald reported that a Chinese firm in Nigeria, Mutual Commitment Company Ltd, has donated medical face mask and hand gloves to Nigerian military as part of the effort to curb the ravaging coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The Chief of Defence Training and Operations, Maj.-Gen. Lucky Irabor, received the items on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin on Monday at the Defence Headquarters.
