A property dispute has emerged between Omega Power Ministries (OPM) and a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, with OPM founder, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, appealing to the public for intervention.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Apostle Chibuzor said he was compelled to make the matter public after several attempts to resolve the issue privately failed.
According to him, OPM purchased a property in Marine Base nearly a year ago with funds generated from church tithes and offerings. He explained that the property was acquired to establish a free school for children in the community who are currently out of school.
The cleric stated that OPM already operates a branch church in the area but needed an additional facility to accommodate the planned educational project.
He alleged that a branch of RCCG was occupying the property at the time of purchase and had been informed of OPM’s intention to acquire it.
According to Chibuzor, representatives of OPM met with the branch pastor before the transaction was completed and were reportedly told that the church was not interested in purchasing the building and would relocate if OPM bought it.
Apostle Chibuzor further claimed that the RCCG branch’s tenancy had expired before the sale and that the landlord had stopped collecting rent after putting the property on the market.
He said that despite repeated appeals and assurances from the occupants that they would vacate the premises, the RCCG branch has remained in the building nearly one year after the purchase.
The OPM founder also alleged that his church paid ₦1 million requested by the RCCG branch to assist with relocation, but the occupants still failed to move out.
Expressing concern over the delay, Apostle Chibuzor said hundreds of children in Marine Base have been unable to benefit from the proposed free school project.
He further appealed to anyone with influence over the RCCG branch pastor to intervene and help resolve the matter peacefully, stressing that OPM has deliberately avoided involving law enforcement agencies because the dispute concerns two churches.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the RCCG branch mentioned in the allegations.
