Umudibia Autonomous Community in Owerri West has held their Year 2022 Annual Christmas Conference successfully.
The event took place at the Traditional Palace of His Royal Highness Eze Godwin Merinini, Dibia -1 of Umudibia.
9News Nigeria reports that at the 2022 Annual Conference, the people of Umudibia (Aut) Community adopted the proposal for the establishment of a New Comprehensive Secondary School and a Central Market in the area amongst Others.
Our correspodent who covered the event reports that the conference featured dignitaries across the Four towns of Umudibia and other notable guests.
Stakeholders, Women leaders, Youth groups and Council of Chiefs From Umuerim, Umuokomoche, Umuofocha and Umuokoto attended the conference.
Presentations were made by youth and women leaders and notable stakeholders were also given the opportunity to address the audience, present stewardship of accounts of work done, challenges and make recommendations on the possible best ways to upgrade Umudibia.
Religious heads, Federal Polytechnic host Community representative, Government Officials and some other notable guests were in attendance.
While presenting his Royal speech, Eze Godwin Merinini told his subjects to harken unto God and work in His righteousness to salvage the land.
He added that he has applied carrot and stick approach to make Umudibia better than other neighbouring communities.
He futher x-rayed his numerous achievements in his watch and reign as Umudibia Traditional Ruler and call on Ndi Umudibia to remain focused.
Having ruled for about 21 Years on the throne as a Traditional Ruler, Eze Merinini stated that there are alot of challenges on the hot seat while stating that Umudibia tradition is not repugnant with christianity.
He said, there is no project he does without firstly reverencing God and as such called on his subjects to embrace peace and love one another and the community at large.
Recall that by the existence of his royal throne, 21years ago, Umudibia has recorded alot of developments and progress in areas of attracting NDDC Projects, establishing a brotherly relationship with the authority and management of Federal Polytechnic, attracting Government projects like health center, road maintenance and evacuation of mountainous heaps of refuse in Umudibia.
In his words, “Solar street lights will go round the entire Umudibia and good roads by my super efforts and in extension the collective efforts of all Umudibia sons and daughters”
“On the issue of Umudibia Youths, there is a court injunction to stay off the election pending the outcome of the competent court. The suit is adjourned to 26th day of January 2023. I want Umudibia Youths to be guided accordingly and remain peaceful while awaiting hearing”
Meanwhile, Umudibia as an autonomous Community under Eze Merinini sometime ago set ablaze Umudibia community shrine, ancient staff and old pattern of ordinances were blotted out. And till date the community is moving forward in God’s order. This is against the wishes of the olden days rulership while some communities are hellbent on the old order.
Merenini elougized members of Eze-in-Council for their total support and wonderful ideas to maintain the culture and tradition of the community.
Hon. Aham Onyenobi assured Umudibia people of his readiness to protect the interest of Ndi Umudibia and to bring back home their due rights from the Federal Polytechnic council since he is a member of the council and a representative of the Host Community.
Highlights of the conference was the immediate inauguration of the Committee members for the establishment of New comprehensive secondary school, Umudibia General Market, Electricity respectively.
In addition to the prosperity set in place by the Monarch, he prayed for a speedy process of negotiation with some oil firms for the exploration of the oil deposit in their area.
The Christmas Conference was ushered in with a Praise Night which took place on the 24-12-2022 as an offshoot of “Project Umudibia” led by Pastor Nlemeke Chituru.
Praise Night is a yearly program in Umudibia targetted at praising God on the eve of Christmas and sharing of gift items to the indigents.
While signing off from the conference, the Traditional Prime Minister of Umudibia, High Chief Don Larry Ugwuegbulam- (Onwa of Umudibia) called for a continous conference of this sort and suggested for an expanded Easter edition and immediate take off of the major projects mentioned.
