Adedimeji studied Arabic at the prestigious university and was pronounced dead on Saturday, (October 22) the day he was to be decorated by the university.
The news of the death and the circumstance has gone viral in the social media (Facebook and Twitter).
The Dean, Faculty of Post Graduate Studies, Prof. Badmas Yusuf, broke the news of the death at the 32nd graduation.
According to the Punch, the news caused a gloom as many graduates and visitors wept at the ceremony held at the main auditorium of the university.
Adedimeji, who until his death was a lecturer at the Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, was among 166 receiving doctoral degrees at the convocation.
He was said to have arrived in Ilorin for the convocation not long before his death.
As the ceremonies progressed however, the Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, said 67 of the 6,069 graduands bagged first class degrees.
1,505 had second-class upper division; 3,200, second-class lower division; 1,124, third class; and 70, pass.
The university had 1,903 postgraduate students, 8,038 first degree students and 68 diploma students graduated who were presented for the 32nd convocation.
