UNIZIK: The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Prof. Carol Arinze Umobi, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka. This was made during the 85th National Senate meeting held at Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa State.
The vote of confidence came on the recommendation of the NANS Southeast Zonal Coordinator, Giant Comr Charles Obinna Ijeomah, who informed the national senate about Prof. Umobi’s student-centric initiatives. These initiatives include slashing ICT fees, GS fees, transcript fees, and other charges to reduce the financial burden on students and parents, ultimately curbing dropout rates.
Prof. Umobi’s commitment to improving hostel living conditions was also highlighted. Upon taking office, she toured campus hostels, identifying areas for renovation and ensuring piped water supply in all hostels.
The National Senate President praised Prof. Umobi’s “motherly love and kind gestures,” leading to the unanimous vote of confidence. The Senate expressed gratitude for her understanding of students’ and parents’ plight and invoked God’s blessings upon her.
In a press letter made available to 9News Nigeria via the coordinator’s Chief Press Secretary, Chris Onwa Mmaju, the NANS Southeast zonal chapter will pay a courtesy visit to the Acting Vice Chancellor soon.
