Residents of Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, have expressed concern over severe flooding following a heavy downpour that affected several parts of the city.
The rainfall, which occurred today, reportedly left roads and residential areas flooded, disrupting movement and raising fears over the safety of lives and property.
Some residents attributed the recurring flooding to poor environmental management and inadequate drainage infrastructure, while calling on the Akwa Ibom State Government to urgently address the situation.
They appealed to the government and relevant environmental agencies to improve drainage systems and implement effective flood-control measures to prevent future occurrences and protect affected communities.
As of the time of filing this report, the Akwa Ibom State Government had not issued an official statement on the incident.
