The Government of Imo state Nigeria led by His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma has released the up-to-date salaries of lecturers of Imo state university IMSU while the ASUU Strike lasts.

This recent development has added another feat to the breakthroughs in the policy leadership of governor Uzodinma to better the state as reported by 9News Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Imo state government have released the payment of all verified Imo State University lecturers as approved by governor Uzodinma.

There is no doubt that these verified IMSU Lecturers have received their salaries till date despite ASUU strike.

Recall that University lecturers in Nigeria, under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as well as other Unions in the Universities have downed tools for over six months to press home their demand for Federal Government to implement the renegotiated 2009 agreement.

9News Nigeria gathered that inspite of the fact that the Staff of Imo State University Owerri joined their counterparts in other Universities to down tools, Imo State Government ably led by His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodinma has continued to pay salaries of these University staff.

The agitation for which the strike is on has direct bearing on Federal Universities, and this has been stated clearly by the Minister of Education who insists he cannot sign off for State Governors who are visitors to their various State owned Universities.

It is imperative that patriotic Imo people should encourage Imo State University to resume academic activities, especially, as it is well known that Imo State Government pays them, promptly, even while on strike but their counterparts in the Federal Universities are facing a different fate.

This is a commendable effort of the government of Imo state under Uzodinma to make IMSU Lecturers happy even while the strike is on. It is expected of IMSU Lecturers to appreciate this gesture of governor Uzodinma as reported by 9News Nigeria.
