Uzodinma Gives Account Of Stewardship As He Presents Year 2023 Budget

Imo state Governor, Hope zodinma has reeled out his unassailable account of stewardship as he presents year 2023 Budget Of Wealth expansion to the state House in Owerri earlier today Tuesday 20-12-2022.

The event took place at the newly reconstructed hallowed Chambers of the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA), where His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma presented the 2023 Budget estimate for consideration and appropriation by the State House.

Christened 2023 Budget of Wealth Expansion, the proposed budget stood at N474,466,276,267.00 (Four Hundred and Seventy Four Billion, Four Hundred and Sixty Six Million, Two Hundred and Seventy-Six Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty Seven Naira only).

The Governor started by rendering his stewardship on the execution of the 2022 Budget of Wealth Creation, as appropriated. Prominent in his report, is the reconstructed Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) Complex, which had been abandoned for over 10 years.

His Excellency further gave an account of his administration’s achievements across various sectors vis-a-vis: education, health, social development, empowerment, etc. Accordingly, he cited the achievements as propelling factors to further spread prosperity across the State hence, the 2023 Budget of Wealth Expansion.

The budget which is anchored on a policy thrust of satisfying the desires of the good people of Imo State reflects a 23% increase in capital expenditure, with N373.6b (78.8% of the total budget) earmarked.

With a proposed recurrent revenue of N150.5b and recurrent expenditure of N101b, the 2023 budget is quite healthy and focused on improving infrastructures across the State for greater economic growth.

His Excellency reminded the general public of his assent to the law, the Imo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti Corruption Commission, which will deal with those that have defrauded and wish to defraud the State.

The Governor, therefore, urged the Speaker and Members of the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA) to review and consider the 2023 Budget of Wealth Expansion as proposed.

The presentation attracted massive attention of the house of Assembly members who adopted the motion pending approval and implementation.

Honourable Members turned out en-masse to acknowledge this gesture of the governor targetted at salvaging the state through immediate implementation.
