The overwhelming emergence of Governor Hope Uzodinma as the APC gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Imo state has been explained as a clear indication that the masses now appreciate the dividends of Democracy, provided for them.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Imo Orientation Agency, Chief Fidel Onyeneke stated this in Owerri while commending the people for the confidence being reposed in the Imo State Government.
Chief Onyeneke said that the remarkable achievements of Governor Uzodinma in the areas of Infrastructural development and human resources enhancement, had caught the interest of the electorate, and the people are therefore very desirous to reciprocate the gesture by giving the Governor more opportunities to serve.
Onyeneke explained that what was crucial at this stage was a collective resolve by the Imo citizenry, to fully join hands and support the government in its intensive efforts, to further improve the welfare and living standard of Imo people.
Chief Onyeneke while hailing the Governor for his determination to render the expected qualitative leadership in the State,expressed optimism that the second term of Gov Uzodinma would boost the socio-political and socio-economic growth of Imolites.
According to him, the Governor need more time to complete and consolidate on the laudable people-orientated projects the government had commenced.
He further stressed the need for a change of Attitude among Nigerians, with a view to individuals imbibing accommodating spirit, and being their brothers keepers.
“We need to tolerate one another, and support things that unite us as members of one family” Onyeneke stated.
The Special Adviser reiterated that violence does no good in any society, adding that peace, unity and development can only be achieved, when people shun negative tendencies, and focus on contributions that would create harmony and brotherliness.
SA Onyeneke emphasised that the task of developing Imo state should not be left for the government alone,but requires the co-operation of all well-meaning groups, individuals and the stakeholders in Imo State.
