Residents of Wasagu town in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State have appealed on the State government under the leadership of Governor Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) to urgently intervene in the construction of Wasagu township roads.

According to the residents, the poor condition of the major roads within the town has continued to affect economic activities, transportation, and the general well-being of the community. They noted that although the previous administration of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu awarded the contract for the construction of Wasagu township roads and even paid financial compensation to homeowners whose houses were marked for demolition, the project has remained abandoned with no visible progress recorded to date.

Speaking under the platform of Wasagu Concern Citizens, the group emphasized that the completion of these roads is crucial for the socio-economic development of the area and will go a long way in easing movement and improving local commerce.

“We are appealing to His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, to come to our aid and ensure that the Wasagu township roads project is revisited and completed for the benefit of our people,” the statement read.
The group, however, commended Governor Idris for his administration’s ongoing efforts in tackling insecurity in Wasagu and other communities within Kebbi South Senatorial District. They expressed gratitude for the government’s proactive measures in restoring peace and stability, while stressing that infrastructural development such as road construction is equally vital in consolidating security gains and promoting sustainable development.
The Wasagu Concern Citizens reaffirmed their loyalty and support to the state government, urging it to prioritize the construction of Wasagu township roads as a matter of urgency.
