Godwin Udoh, Asaba
Twenty-four-year-old kidnap kingpin, Ikechukwu Oscar, has confessed that he and his gang members kidnapped one Emeka, a businessman in Asaba, following his alleged indebtedness of N100,000 to him.
The suspect, among others paraded by the Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, at the State Police Command, told The PUNCH that his involvement in the kidnap was a result of Emeka not willing to pay him the N100,000 he owed him.
Oscar said, “I was working for Emeka as gardner in Government House Asaba. He had won the contract to maintain Government House, and I worked for six months, but he did not pay me. The total amount is N100,000, hence I planned his kidnap with my gang members.”
He added that he and his gang members were caught on their way to Okpanam road around Akpu Junction on a tricycle, where Police detectives stopped them and after conducting a search, they recovered three face masks and wraps of marijuana from them.
In another development, the Police in Kwale have killed a notorious robbery suspect identified as Jonathan, alias GSM, during a gun battle.
Mr. Zanna Ibrahim confirmed that the suspect was killed after he and his gang members had kidnapped a bank manager and escaped; adding that the Police acted on a tip-off.
