Muslims in Lafia, Nasarawa State, have once again taken to the streets in protests over the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Demostrators, believed to be members and supporters of the Islamic Movement, marched through parts of the city carrying placards with inscriptions such as “We Stand with Iran”, and “Stop the Killing”.
Some protesters were seen waving Iranian flags and displaying photograph of the late cleric while chanting solidarity slogans.
According to eyewitness accounts, the protest was peaceful, with participants calling on the international community to condemn what they described as unjust aggression against Iran.
The protesters also urged Muslim leaders worldwide to speak out against the development.
Security personnel were reportedly present to monitor the procession and ensure that law and order were maintained. There were no immediate reports of violence or arrests at the time of filing this report.
