Why I hated Nnamdi Kanu – Major Obi (Rtd)

Major Ken Chioma Obi (Rtd), who was retired from the Military on October, 2003, on medical ground presently runs a private intelligence organization known as Pipers Group World Wide. He had an encounter with ENI CHIZARAM on why he turned from being an ardent hater of the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to becoming one of his greatest admirers. Excerpts:
What’s your attitude to the Biafran agitation?
To answer your question, I will refer to my last encounter with the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in his old house near the JAMB office in Enugu. He was carrying his kids; the twins who were a bit younger then. I met with him and asked him series of questions relating to the Biafran passion and the Nigerian vision and I know what he told me.
He told me about the dream and the ideology, the history of Biafra, the current situation of Biafra and the future of Biafra. So for now, I am a Nigerian, I was not born in Biafra. Fortunately I was born months after the civil war ended. I was born in Nigeria and that makes me a Nigerian.
Do you think Biafra has any future?
My answer will be spiritual, metaphysical, sociological and political. Much as so many people may not want to hear it, Biafra is a spiritual vision. Biafra is a personality and a persona. Biafra is a woman that will give birth in Africa spiritually and metaphysically.
God has programmed the future of the child, that woman will deliver the emergence of the child. That woman will deliver in constellations and when the time comes, nothing will stop it.
But for now, if you want to know the secrets of Biafra, the past, present and future, unto eternity, you go to Isaiah 18. It has only about 7 verses. There, you will see the prophesy on Nigeria. God did not remain silent about the future and destiny of 180 million people. God wrote specifically and categorically on Nigeria and also wrote about Biafra coming out of Nigeria, in Isaiah 18.
The whole of Isaiah 18 is dedicated to Nigeria and its travails in the labor room. It was written down 500 years before Jesus was born and this is 2016, years after Jesus was here. Add 500 to 2016 then you will know when the vision was penned down by Isaiah.
The Biafra agitations you see everywhere is there in Isaiah 18 and is a sign of the end times because God said the whole nation should watch Africa and watch a country beyond the rivers of Ethopia and watch a country of people who had been terrible from their beginnings, a people oppressed and trodden down.
Isaiah 18 described Nigeria as being dissected by the Nigerian map whose lands, the rivers have spoiled. Isaiah 18 described them as a smooth skinned people and a time will come they will lift up an enzyme. It said the whole world should watch what would happen when that enzyme is lifted up. Isaiah 18 did not say what exctly that will happen, except that eventually, when that nation comes out, nations will be coming for pilgrimage and be bringing gifts.
Do you think the time for Biafra actualisation has come?
The moment you see Biafran flags being raised all over the world: in China, Switzerland, Germany, all over the world, and there is no government coordinating it and the people who are parading these flags are people who are previously attached to their commercial trading centers, their greatest ideology once upon a time, was just their trading and all of a sudden hoisting flags, where is the passion coming from?
Nobody is paying them, nobody is mobilizing them because they are not a hired crowd and they are getting shot by soldiers but they kept coming out. The last time they were attacked, they ordered a sit-at-home protest and it was very effective.
For the very first time since the end of the civil war, the Igbo agreed to shut down their shops, taking instructions not from government, not from royalty, but from somewhat insignificant youths; the Igbo have never done that.
Yet there is no government and there is funding; you see I used to hear when I was younger that there is nothing more dangerous as an idea whose time has come.
Do you think the timing has something to do with Nnamdi Kanu?
The nation of Israel was in captivity in Egypt for 430 years and all the jews that were born within that period assumed that it was a situation of happenstance but it was not that. It was the divine plan of God because it was written down in black and white that they were in captivity for 400 years. We cannot fight the captivity by going against God. I don’t know how long the Igbo will remain in political subjugation and in captivity in Nigeria, but we will not remain political second class citizens forever. If anybody says that the igbos are not political second class citizens in Nigeria I will ask the person just three questions: How come there is no Igbo man in the National security Council? Nigeria has about 16 sensitive security posts and right now in if The National security Council is sitting, you will not see a single Igbo man there today. Secodly, why is it that an Igbo has not emerged executive president of Nigeria? Thirdly, it took the administration of Goodluck Jonathan (40 years) after the civil war, for an Igbo to emerge as the Chief of Army staff which.
God is not deaf to our prayers. So if Igbo are in captivity according to divine purpose they must study. This is because the Israelites spent extra 30 years. It took a Moses to lead them out of Captivity and if your Moses is still young in pampers you must wait for him.
Therefore, if Nnamdi Kanu is the Moses of Ndigbo, then Ndigbo must wait for him; if he is not their Moses and their Moses is still in nursey school, they must wait for their Moses.
From what you have said Nnamdi Kanu is of some interest to you?
The first time I came across Nnamdi Kanu, I saw him as an unruly youth. I saw him as someone that is uncut in language and in his approach to issues. I saw him as someone that is not just radical but he was of juvenile deliquecy but then again I looked at his age. He is not a juvenile and with the background check I ran on him, I learnt he read something like political economics but I didn’t like his language.
He was calling president Muhammadu Buhari in unprintable words and having a military background I wouldn’t want such a language to be used in addressing an elder. Am an African, am a prince of Anam kingdom, am a future Igwe, so I don’t like people addressing elders in uncut language. So I didn’t like Nnamdi Kanu for that. Then I wrote to radio Biafra and to one of their supporting facebook pages ‘’Biafran Armies Under Nnamdi Kanu’’ and I made it clear to them; this is my number, get it across to Nnamdi kanu because I want to talk to him, let me give him an elder’s advice if this is his vision and what he wants, he has to amend his language.
Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe did not need to talk about Queen Elizabeth 11 in a derogatory manner before gaining independence for Nigeria; he didn’t need to insult anybody and yet, he got it. IPOB members began to insult me, attack me; they are a pack of wolves, they have no respect or regard for anybody, they are very angry with Nigeria and they have no decorum.
So for five days and five nights, I did not sleep because I literary closed down their facebook page; I was posting angrily until one lady called Dorin took note of me and told me she saw me I was very angry and my eyes were red almost like a lion. She sent me a message to say please sir they don’t know what they are doing. My anger was not just Nnamdi Kanu’s language but they were touching a very sensitive non-negotiatable item and topic.
They were saying that Chukwuokike Abiama (God of creation) is the God of the Igbos. I wrote them that if they want to pursue a Biafran vision, a political vision and a socio political vision, they should please stick to it. Do not delve into theology, because it is a hot area.
Eventually I heard Nnamdi Kanu can come and leave Nigeria, nobody can arrest him, he is invisible and I kept telling them, tell him to call me that I want to talk to him. I started getting threats so I posted my photograph and even my address in Abuja with all my phone numbers and that was when they realized that not everybody can be killed.
When they saw that they piped down and said they will get my message across to him. I told Nnamdi to stop sneaking into Nigeria; stop making the security services in Nigeria look impotent, stop stoking them. I am of a military background and Nigerian Army is not British Army because Generals don’t forgive. Soldiers generally don’t forgive and so I advised him to remain in London and do his campaign and should stop sneaking in and out because it means you have thrown a challenge to the whole security services of a nation and they are going to get you.
I sent him my number and he never got in touch with me and the next thing I heard was that he has been arrested. I didn’t like his language and his lack of respect although I learnt he apologized later, but today I am his sympathizer.
