The Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Professor Ike Ekweremmad visited Motherless babies homes, Hospitals and old people’s homes to mark his 56th Birthday.
The enviable and admirable Deputy Senate President had chosen to visit those who are having hard lives, the less privileged ones, and those more unfortunate than the rest, to spend time with them, make them happy, as a way to celebrate his “this year’s birthday”.
Professor Ekweremadu had gone the unusual way by forsaking his fellow elites in order to put smiles on the faces of those the society seems to leave behind, most of the time.
On his twitter timeline, the one in a million distinguished senator, who stands tall as one of the most experienced and diligent among the rest, tweeted to his fans on how he celebrated his 56th birthday visiting motherless babies homes in Enugu, UNTH hospital and old peoples’ home, all in Enugu state.
Going by the tone of the tweets, it’s evident that the Deputy Senate President has special empathy and compassion for the less privileged of our society, and it also depicts that the visitations meant so much to him.

It is usually commonsensical for the rich especially those in high positions in government to throw expensive high society parties, spending a lot of money to entertain those within their circle, and calling TV stations to cover the fabulous events. But this time, the Enugu state Igbo man had decided to remember those that needed hospitality the most.
He had visited University Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla in Enugu State, and Mother of Perpetual Help Old People’s Home also in Enugu state.
He then went ahead to visit Holy Child Motherless Babies Home, Enugu, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu where he spent some time with the patients.
