In this opinion pieces ABUBAKAR YUSUF a political analyst and Babatunde Adekanmbi a Digital Creator explained why The Nigerian President should act fast
To say that President Muhammadu Buhari was loved by Nigerians is an understatement, he weild enormous support of Nigeria, particularly the northern part of the country which has shown massive support for his presidential ambition right from his first attempt in 2013 up until 2015 when he eventually won the election.
The street all over the country turns in a carnival of sorts as sound of music and dance filled all over, the excitement and jubilation were uncontrollable to the point some people lost their lives as Mai Gaskiya(the trustworthy) is finally going to lead Nigeria, hope filled the air all over.
Seven years down the line, the buhari led government is still far away from fulfilling the major promises he and his party made to Nigerians that made them reposed much confidence in APC ‘s party and President buhari as a candidate.
The academic staff union been on a strike for nearly six months since February 14,2022 and their is no sign of them calling off anytime soon, though President buhari has given the minister 2weeks to bring the strike to an end hopefully, Another promises is still very far from been a reality is a promise of turning the Naira equal to a dollar, promised that was made by the President himself during the southeast Presidential rally for APC at the Dan Anyim stadium in Owerri.
“It is sad that the value of the Naira has dropped to more than #230 to one dollar, this doesn’t speak well for the nations economy” he said..
Years after that Presidential promise, reverse is the case as the Naira is in a free fall against the dollar, effect of which is severely been felt by both business owners and consumers and by extension the economy at large.
Another major promise, if not the most important among all, on the basis of which President Buhari was elected is as a matter of fact nothing to write home about. Prior to the election in 2015, while speaking at that the Chatham House has claimed that if elected “the world will have no cause to worrying about Nigeria, it will be able to help itself”.
He said “Nigeria will return to its stabilising role in West African and no inch of Nigerian territory will ever be lost to the enemy. Because we will pay attention to the welfare of our soldiers in and out of service. We will give then adequate and moderns arms and ammunition to work with, we will improve intelligence gathering and border parrots”.
Seven years down line not just the world but even Nigerians have the cause to worry about security situations in the country as farmer can no longer go and carry out their farming activities, citizens can no longer travel from one end of the country to the other end without the fear of bandits or kidnappers on our major roads, schools are been closed on a daily basis for fear of been attacked while major correctional centers are been attacked and terrorist been freed.
This is a cry to the President on behalf of a mother who just lost all her children to the Bandit.
This is a cry from a young boy who has been out of school for half the year and nothing else to do.
This is a cry from the people who have nothing more to loose as the things they live for has been wasted and abuse.
Dear president Muhammad Buhari their are many questions on our mind and we are bagging for answers, when will this troubles end. When will the children goes back to school?, when will our Naira rise again?.
We need you to act now because it is on the basis of your action or inaction that your party will be voted for or against as your term comes to an end.
