Wike constitutes administrative panel of inquiry to review traditional chieftaincy stools

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has signed an instrument constituting an administrative panel of inquiry to review the classification of traditional chieftaincy stools in the state.

The governor will inaugurate the panel today at the executive council chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt by 2.00pm.

The governor said: “In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and other powers enabling me in that behalf, I Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State hereby constitute and appoint an administrative panel of inquiry to review the classification of traditional stools in Rivers State.”

Members of the panel include Sam Egbe as chairman; Sir Samuel Ibemeru, permanent secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs as secretary; Dr. Samuel Wenedo, Dr. Benibo George, Dr. Godspower Irikana and Henry Amadi, principal state counsel, Ministry of Justice as counsel to the panel of inquiry.

The panel of inquiry has full powers and authority to hold public hearings into the aforesaid matters.
