The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Barrister Nyesom Wike, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), MIchael Ango.
This was made known in a statement on Friday, by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
The most senior official of the FCT-IRS has been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect.
Part of the statement reads; “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Internal Revenue Service, (FCT-IRS) Mr. Michael Ango.
“The most senior official of the FCT-IRS has been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect”.
No official reason was given for the decision as of time of filing this report.
Recall, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on August 9, 2024 approved Ango’s appointment as Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS.
Under his leadership, the Revenue Service recorded a revenue of N262 billion in 2024, surpassing its target of N250 billion, and its previous revenue collection of N211.1 billion for , 2023.
