Wike Vows to Remain in PDP Amid Internal Party Tensions

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has firmly declared his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a media chat held today in Abuja, Wike stated, “I don’t run away from a fight; I will not leave the PDP.”

He expressed concerns over internal factions within the party, asserting, “This group of PDP Governors wants the PDP to die.”

This statement comes amidst ongoing disputes regarding the control of the party’s structure in Rivers State.

Previously, Wike had issued warnings to fellow PDP governors against interfering in Rivers State’s political affairs, threatening to “put fire” in their states if they attempted to challenge his influence.

He emphasized, “When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace, then whatever you see, you take.”

In response, the PDP Governors’ Forum condemned Wike’s threats as “unbridled” and “irresponsible,” showing their commitment to unity and collective progress within the party.

They reaffirmed their support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and urged all party members to work collaboratively towards common goals.

The forum emphasized the importance of dialogue and reconciliation, encouraging Wike to engage constructively with established party mechanisms to resolve internal conflicts and strengthen the PDP’s cohesion.
