Woman, 22, Commits Suicide, Over Boyfriend’s Death In Adamawa

A 22-year-old woman, Florence Vandi, has taken her own life allegedly protest over the death of her boyfriend in Adamawa state.

Açcording to reports, Florence who hailed from Michika LGA, drank a substance suspected to be ‘Otapiyapiya’ (an insect killer) which led to her death.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying they received the report of the death on December 12.

Late Florence, who resided in Viniklang in Girei LGA, was said to have taken the decision in protest of the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface, who died after a brief illness while receiving treatment at a hospital.

Investigation revealed that Florence until her death, was a health worker attached to Girei Primary Health Care Centre.

The incident has caused sadness within the community, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babalola, expressed regret over the tragic event.

He advised members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and report any suspicious movement around their neighbourhoods to the police.
