Imo workers regret non-implementation of Promotion Pay since Governor Hope Uzodinma approved the new promotional status of Imo civil servants over a period of one year and some couple of months.

While pointing hands at the Accountant General of the state, Head of service, Worker’s/ Labour Union and the shared prosperity administration of denial of worker’s right, undue delay, mis-management and diversion of funds, Imo workers are calling Governor Hope Uzodinma to recall their officers and investigate this course.

The delay is abnormal and uncalled for since the state governor has approved worker’s promotion over a year ago without implementing it’s promotion scale and immediate payment.

It is a Year and Four months Governor Uzodinma promised Imo workers promotion but along the line, it is rumoured that the head of service was the actual cause workers are suffering and passing through HardTimes.

Imo workers promotion money cum salary payment status have not come to fruition since the promise was made by the 3R government.

However, notable Imolites have charged Imo Civil Servants to come out loud and stage a protest against the head of civil service and the accountant general of the state requesting the government for immediate implemention of workers promotion salary scale.

Recall that the announcement of workers promotion came from the government past one year and four months which brought about the voting en-masse of the All Progressive Congress APC Party and Governor Hope Uzodinma for a smooth second term bid.

The Governor told Imo workers point blank of his official readiness to improve worker’s welfare, promotional status and regular payment of salary during the electioneering but regrettedly the salary scale has remained the same even after the promotion was approved.

Allegedly, the Head of Service has been pointed the cause of this delay by his extension of service since his retirement was over due. The workers are calling on the government to recall the head of service and investigate the actual delay of the implementation of promotion pay.

Speaking with the press this morning at the state Secretariat Owerri, workers who pleaded anonymous told us that the Accountant General of the state is expected to make clarifications on the worker’s allegation of hoarding their promotion pay without disbursement.

Speaking further, the four (4,000) thousand Imo Youths that was promised employment fleet abroad through a certain program that graduated professional specialists on various fields is yet to be implemented as revealed by Imo workers.

Our correspondent reports that the palliative trailers of Rice allotted to Imo civil servants was completely mismanaged leaving many workers ravenous without getting a cup or a painter of rice.

Our investigative correspondent authoritatively gathered that the bags of Rice allotted to civil servants as palliative was not duly distributed. The 25kg bags was suppose to have got to all workers as estimated and calculated by government.

Another set of workers on regular sweeping of roads in the state capital particular those assigned along Wetheral- Aba/Owerri road and Douglas have cried in pains to our correspondent and complained the non- payment of their stipend from government agents.

Accordingly, “our payment have not be coming regularly over one year we started this work of sweeping Imo roads. “We take alot of risks and pains to clean Imo street roads to assist the 3R government to maintaining cleanliness but at the end we will not be paid rather we kept consuming insults from the public” Sweepers lamented.

It is a known reality that hard time has gone round across boards and every body is feeling the pains of inflation in Imo. The cost of food items and market commodities are increasing on daily basis and death rate is high.

Pump price is high and the leaders are busy padding budget and talking talks while the people cry. School kidnapping, insecurity and instability of governance is high.

The minimum wage has not been implemented and the worker’s union are insensitive to this. The government has pronounced promotion and the promotion pay isn’t attached and not coming forth.

Since 2017 till date the salary scale of workers has remained the same and the additional money that is supposedly attached to the promotion has not been implemented till date as 9News Nigeria reports.

We are sure that salaries of Imo workers are paid regularly by the shared prosperity administration as at when due but the salary scale has not improved since the Governor approved the worker’s promotion something last year.

A source close to the office of the accountant general of the state told our correspondent that the executive arm has not approved the released of any promotion money to be disbursed to Imo workers but requested that the worker’s union will write to the Governor through the Head of service as a reminder to their due request for the commencement of payment of new promotion salary status as approved by Imo government.
