Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas has told Brazilian star, Neymar that Eden Hazard has emerged the third best player in the world following Belgium’s 2-1 win over Brazil.
Hazard led Belgium as they knocked out Brazil from the World Cup on Friday.
The South Americans had 59 per cent of the possession in the quarter-final clash but were consistently caught on the break by Belgium’s all-star front three, Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.
However, it was an own-goal from Fernandinho which broke the deadlock in Kazan before Manchester City’s De Bruyne doubled Belgium’s lead with a stunning long-range strike before half-time.
Hazard continued to cause Brazil’s defence all sorts of problems after the break, while Neymar, who has been heavily criticisied in Russia, produced an underwhelming display.
Second-half substitute Renato Augusto pulled a goal back for Brazil but Belgium held on for a famous win to reach the semi-finals.
The result meant that Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar have all been eliminated from the tournament.
Hazard, meanwhile, still has the chance to lift the trophy in Moscow on July 15.
After the win, Fabregas threw shade at Neymar by suggesting that his teammate at Chelsea, Hazard, had overtaken Neymar as the third best player on the planet.
Fabregas who was also Neymar’s teammate at Barcelona, wrote “@PrimeHazard, the third best player in the world. Its done. The debate is over.”
