As the international community marks 2021 World Disabilities Day, the Life patrons of persons living with disabilities and Senator representing the good people of Anambra South at the National Assembly Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has taken time to celebrate with the disables in Anambra State.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in his address through his Senior Special Assistant on Disability Matters Hon. Amobi Okonkwo (Anunuebe Nnewi) congratulated persons living with disabilities for their doggedness and not letting their condition undermine their abilities.
The most distinguished senator said that persons living with disabilities are to be cared for and given good opportunities to live their dreams. He charged them never to give up on their desires in life, he encouraged them to aspire for greatness and never take their condition as a disadvantage. He also appealed to the government and well meaning citizens to support the welfare of persons under special needs.
This years IDPD celebration is with the theme “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-Covid-19 World”. The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nation’s General Assembly resolution 47/3.3.
Sen. Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is well known for his love and care for the disables. At numerous times, he has continued to support and provide for the physically challenged. He has granted job opportunities to them, provide working aids and organized skill trainings to these vulnerable members of the society.
At the end of his address, the people’s senator prayed God to continue to protect and bless the handiworks of persons living with disabilities.
