
The Yobe Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries had honoured a tricycle operator (popularly called Keke NAPEP) Ali Bulama for returning the missing N9million to the rightful owner.
Bulama returned the money to the owner at Jumbum community in Tarmuwa LGA, Yobe state.
The chairman of the association, Alhaji Msandari Lawan, presented a certificate of Honour and N100,000 to Bulama, on Wednesday in Damamaturu.
He commended the tricycle rider for his honesty and fear of God.
Ali Bulama from Jumbum village, Turmuwa Local Government Area, Yobe state was rewarded with N100,000 for his foresight and fear of God in returning the sum of N9,000,000 (Nine million naira)
Bulama, 35, said the owner of the money, a resident of Maiduguri boarded his tricycle in Jumbum at about 9:30pm.
“It was around 11:30pm or so I dropped him and went back home, that I saw a sack containing some items left in my tricycle.
“When I discovered that the sack contained some money, I quickly went out to search for the owner. By then, the news of the missing N9million had already circulated in the village. “After a while with the help of some locals, the owner of the money was found and I handed over the money by to him”, he said.
The tricycle rider said the owner of the money gave him N20, 000 as an appreciation.
