Zulum Reverses Decision On Suspended Health Workers, Pardons, Reinstate Over 20

About 23 health workers have gotten back their jobs in Borno State, months after their suspension.

They were suspended for being absent at their post when the state governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, paid an unannounced visit to some health facilities in Gwoza local government area.

However, they were reinstated by the governor according to a release by his spokesman, Malam Dauda Iliya on Tuesday, during an inspection of ongoing projects in the LGA.

While addressing them, Zulum stressed the importance of dedication to work and assured them of improved working conditions, among other incentives.

”Complaints were made about the 23 medical workers who were absent during my last visit.

‘‘No one is perfect, so the government has pardoned them, although no arrears will be paid,” he said.

The governor also ordered the deployment of four new doctors and ten nurses to the LGA to aid healthcare service delivery.

Similarly, he also announced that Gwoza General Hospital will be upgraded to support training of nursing students.
