Jos — At least 20 persons are feared dead, with several others injured, following a multiple -vehicle crash at Hwan Kibo in Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The tragic incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Friday and reportedly involved a truck and several other vehicles.
The crash threw the area into confusion as residents and other road users rushed to the scene to assist victims and provide emergency support.
Confirming the incident, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Commander in Plateau, Adelaja Ogungbemi, said the accident was caused by brake failure.
Ogungbemi explained that the truck’s brake system failed, causing the driver to lose control and crash into other vehicles.
Rescue operations were subsequently launched at the scene, while the injured victims were taken for medical attention.
