Immediate past Commissioner for Environment in Imo State, Dr Ikechukwu Njoku, has advised those seeking to replace Governor Hope Uzodimma in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, to rather channel such energy towards supporting the incumbent governor as his 8 year tenure in office is non-negotiable.
In his words, ” Mbaise is full APC while PDP has failed as a party that cannot make 10% percentage of electoral votes “
Dr Njoku stated this when Leaders and Councilors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the three LGAs of Mbaise, paid him a courtesy visit in Owerri, the state capital.
The Ex Commissioner who used the medium to remind the Councilors that Governor Uzodimma appreciates each of them, especially the way they mobilized people during the just concluded APC registration exercise.
He enjoined the Councilors to remain loyal to the Governor whom he described as the leader of the party in the state, adding that those dreaming to take over the structure of the party from him should wake up from such fiction.
Dr Njoku also explained that Uzodimma has transformed the state since his mandate was restored to him by the Supreme Court, adding that his achievements are there for men of honesty to see.
The Dogged Politician enjoined the councilors and other ward party leaders to carry out sensitization campaigns in their various LGAs, stressing that the people of Mbaise had made mistakes in the past by voting for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a development he said, reduced Mbaise to it’s present state politically.
He boasted that the three LGAs of Mbaise are strongholds of APC, which is manifest in the litany of PDP Chieftains and their supporters who defected to APC in the area.
He noted that gone are the days when PDP prides itself as the pillar of Mbaise, adding that soon, the remnants in PDP would join their counterparts to APC. Hear him,” we the people of Mbaise are no longer comfortable with the kind of politics we play. All this while, our people have been playing opposition and it has not helped us in any way. This time, such practice must stop. We must go and inform our people to keep faith with Governor Hope Uzodimma.
He is a man of a generous heart.
The entire Mbaise is APC.
You can see from our last party registration, it was a huge success.
Everybody registered with our party.
It means we are doing well.
I urge you all to resist intimidation from party hijackers and remain firm with our leader, Most Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma”.
In his speech, the Leader of all the councilors in Imo State, who also hails from Ahiazu Mbaise , Hon Okey Ezem, thanked the Commissioner for supporting them during their trying time.
He noted that the councilors in the area are happy with him and would continue to do their best in strengthening the strongholds of the party in Mbaise community.
He described Dr Njoku as a leader of impeccable character who does not eat alone but rather carries everyone along in politics and business, while pledging their loyalty to the Governor
The highpoint of the occasion was a vote of confidence passed on Governor Hope Uzodimma.
PDP has failed woefully in mbaise bloc.
