The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed the recently announced All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, saying its composition will not guarantee victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, said the opposition party was not intimidated by the calibre of personalities appointed to the APC campaign team.

Agada made the remarks while reacting to the APC’s campaign structure for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

In a post on X, he said the 2027 election would ultimately be decided by Nigerian voters, not the wealth or influence of campaign officials.

“I am not the least bit moved or worried by the composition of the APC Presidential Campaign Council,” Agada wrote.

He argued that even the appointment of billionaire businessman Elon Musk as campaign council director-general would not change the outcome.

“If the party likes, let it name Elon Musk as their DG and all the moneybags in the country as their members, we will still beat them silly in 2027,” he said.

Agada maintained that ordinary Nigerians would determine the result of the election.

He said voters struggling with economic hardship would use the ballot box to express their dissatisfaction with the government.

“The ordinary people whose take-home cannot even take them home are the ones who will make a bold statement in 2027,” he added.

The NDC spokesman also accused the APC-led government of worsening poverty, claiming that about 140 million Nigerians had been pushed into poverty since Tinubu assumed office.

He said those affected by the economic situation would play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.

The statement comes amid heightened political activities as the APC and opposition parties intensify preparations, strengthen their structures and mobilise supporters ahead of the 2027 poll.
