2027; We Endorse Owerri Zone For Governor- National Youth Alliance Echoes

Following the trend of politics in Imo state for the upcoming 2027 Governorship election, various camps and socio-political groups have started throwing more weight behind massive support for Owerri zone.

The ” Imo Charter Of Equity” was signed by the agreement of political stakeholders in Imo State to address lingering crisis bedevilling Governorship rotation across the three (3) senatorial zones in the state.

9News Nigeria reports that , since the creation of Imo State, Orlu has taken the longest turn followed by Okigwe zone. This mis-arrangement of equity and fairness therefore affected Owerri zone drastically until the incumbent Governor saw it as a tangible reason to call for a unifying agreement tagged, “IMO CHARTER OF EQUITY”

The Executive Governor of Imo state, His Excellency Dr Hope Uzodinma , in his speech at several functions promised to hand over power to Owerri zone after his already running second term in office. This promise is held at high grounds to consolidate the gains of good governance in Imo State Nigeria.

In this News by 9News Nigeria, The National Youth Alliance NYA, Imo state have stated categorically their stand having the following reasons below stated.

The original copy signed by Comrade Chinonso Uba Nonsonkwa, State Chairman-NYA reads thus:

IMG 20240922 WA0335

-We Shall Resist Any Abuja Based Politician !

-Only a ‘Home Boy’ Aspirant Shall have our Support !

The National Youth Alliance NYA Imo State chapter hereby officially takes position on the 2027 Imo Guber and endorses Owerri Zone for the exalted position.

This is coming after a thorough review of the Gubernatorial elections from 1999 to 2019.

Orlu Zone has taken the highest chunk of the rotational power in Imo, producing Chief Achike Udenwa in 1999, Sen Rochas Okorocha in 2011 and Sen Hope Uzodinma in 2020 till 2027.

Owerri Zone has only produced a 7month Governor in the person of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.

Okigwe zone produced a 4yr Governor in the person of Chief Ikedi Ohakim.

From the ongoing, its clear, that Owerri Zone is the only Zone hugely denied opportunity to produce Governor for the past 25yrs.

To this end, Imo NYA will mobilize and galvanize support for any qualified Aspirant from any of the nine local government areas of Owerri Zone which include: Mbaitoli, Ikeduru, Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, Ngor Okpala, Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West.

We Shall set up a screening committee that will streamline the qualities of an Aspirant to be supported.

These qualities include but not restricted to the following:

  • Must Be a Home Boy, Not Abuja, Lagos or Abroad based.
  • Must possess the requisite academic knowledge and experience to tackle prevailing economic and security challenges bedeviling the state.
  • Must have native sense
  • Must know the core values of our traditions and culture
  • Must have at least one investment in Imo.
  • Must be a Welfarist..

We at NYA IMO STATE, will throw our unalloyed support behind any youth who possesses the above qualities.

More importantly, a Home Boy, who understands the pulse of ndi Imo and patriotic enough to defend the integrity of Imo state and by extension Ala
IGBO.

We Shall support a Home Boy who knows every nook and cranny of the state by name!

We Shall Resist Any attempt to impose any stooge on Imo people by anyone!

We Shall hold INEC accountable and responsible and prevent the electoral body from any shady deals to subjugate the wishes of Ndi Imo.

We therefore urge other zones not to interfer with the power rotation to avoid political tension.

We urge Ndi Imo to Brace up for a POSITIVE CHANGE come 2027.

The Journey begins Now! Imo NYA writes from Owerri.
