The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cast doubt on the ability of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to secure victory in Rivers State during the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Thursday evening at Channels TV, Wike took aim at Atiku’s camp, insisting they lack the political structure and resources to make inroads in the state.
He stressed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who currently holds sway in Rivers, is not aligned with Atiku’s camp.
“Who is going to make Atiku win in Rivers State in 2027? Governor Fubara is not with them. Whom do they think is going to bring resources? They have failed there,” Wike declared.
The comments further explains the continuing rift between Wike and Atiku, a fallout from the divisions that rocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections.
