About eight persons were on Sunday night shot dead by unknown gunmen in a local drinking Joint at Nding Community Fan District in Barkin Ladi LGA, of Plateau State.
The attackers were said to have opened fire on the people at a relaxation spot in the Community.
A member of the community who gave his name as Williams told our correspondent that eight persons were killed when the gunmen struck.
He said the unknown gunmen stormed the village late Sunday night and opened fire on the people at the drinking joint.
Police Public Relations officer of the Plateau Police Command Tyopev Terna confirmed the incident to newsmen saying that five persons were killed, while the injured are receiving treatment, he said investigation is ongoing to bring the killers to book, he added.
