In view of the current economic situation of Nigeria, it is imperative that there is need to cut the cost of Governance in our society. Some patriotic Youths of Nigeria have come out to give some insights and analysis about our current political decadence.
Agozie Tobechukwu is a Youth who has been following up with so many political activities in Nigeria, but came out to say that our legislatures are being neglected in terms of accountability. In his statement, he said:
“In my view, I believe that the country needs a wholistic approach in achieving success towards nation building. We have channelled our energies towards federal and state executives without considering our legislatures. Our citizens traditionally, do not think that her legislatures have a role to play in our corporate development. But realistically, our fight to bring about healthy and progressive governance in our country can be succesfully acheived if we put into consideration our legislatures as they are also an electee.”
“The sad truth is that they have benefited from this over-bloated government which has made governance very lucrative. The political positions are uneccessarily too lucrative and these legislatures most especially, would rather cling to this positions of power in return for doing nothing. The best of their efforts are usually at the terminal ends of their tenure in which they make palliatives available as bait, to lure their subjects in order to gain cheap ticket to prolong their political life span.”
“In as much as the political awareness of our people is increasing most encouragingly, we must not ignore the need to incorporate into our political cleansing exercise, a deep scrutiny into the efficiency of not just federal and state executives, but also the legislatures. Our civic responsibility has to be wholistic if we must make balanced progress. The country needs total recaliberation as it has been the same set of people ruling since 1960, with their progenies prolonging their currupt legacy.
We have to wake up to this clarion call and fix our country. The country is ours, our God-given inheritance!
