Early hours of tuesday this fatal accident took place on his way froma Enugu to Afikpo.
Former Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Prof Francis Otunta died in a ghastly accident.
He hails from Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi state.
Prof. Ogbonnaya Otunta was confirmed died at the scene of the ghastly motor accident early hours of tuesday.
Traffic personel and medical experts had rushed to rescue the victims few minutes after the crash but regrettedly confirmed the death of the ACADEMIC PROFESSOR.
There were few other people that got degrees of injuries that were rushed for medical attention.
Recall that chief Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta, was the 2019 Imo Gubernatorial INEC Chief Returning Officer.
Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta was a Nigerian academic. He was the fifth Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture upon his appointment in December 2015.

He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Ibadan. An educationalist, Francis Otunta has served in a number of institutions of higher learning and has dedicated his professional life to providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning aimed at raising the universities he has been engaged with to world class standards.
Prior to his position as Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University he was Rector of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana.
Francis has several researched Publications in various national and international journals of Mathematics and Computer Science. He is the facilitator of quarterly training workshop for young Mathematicians and has been instrumental in the provision of education scholarships for less privileged students.
He was also a Fellow of the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, (FNATE), the Institute of Industrial Administration, (FIIA) and Institute of Management Consultants, (FIMC), He was a chartered management consultant.
