Stakeholders in Abia State have lauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on gains made so far by his administration in the areas of economy and infrastructural development after six years in charge of the state’s affairs.
Quantifying the developmental strides of the state government, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji, said the Abia citizenry made the right choice of electing Ikpeazu as their Governor, adding that he has justified the people’s confidence in him with massive projects scattered in every nooks and cranny of Abia.
In a statement felicitating with the State Government on the occasion of its sixth anniversary on May 29, the Abia Speaker described Ikpeazu as a true democrat who has epitomized leadership anchored on transparency, accountability and inclusiveness.
According to Hon Orji, “With the benefit of insight, it is clear that Abians made the right choice when they elected Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as Governor in 2015 and reinforced the confidence they have in him by overwhelmingly voting for him for a second term in 2019. And since then, the Governor has gone ahead to justify the people’s choice of him as our Governor”.
9News Nigeria reports that the number one lawmaker also attributed the relative peace in the state’s political space to the humane and humble attributes of the Governor which he posited, has exceeded all expectations.
Also lending his voice as the government marked its sixth Anniversary, a renowned entrepreneur and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Innocent Nwachukwu, said the administration has made indelible marks in provision of genuine and people-oriented projects across the State.
He also stated that Governor Ikpeazu has justified the mandate of the people in provision of basic needs of the populace, encouragement of small and medium scale enterprises through promotion of Made-in-Abia products and youth empowerment and inclusiveness in governance.
Nwachukwu further added that the government has enhanced the safety of the citizens with its provisions of adequate logistics and manpower to security agencies in the state.
The Umuahia Ibeku-born business mogul used the medium to call on the residents of the state to remain steadfast and resolute in ther supports to the State government as it had made huge efforts in placing Abia in the world map of economic development.
Recall that Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was first elected as Governor of Abia State during the 2015 general elections and completed his first term of four years.
He was reelected for a second term in office in the last 2019 election and was sworn in as Governor on 29th day of May, 2019 by the Chief Judge of Abia State.
Ikpeazu marked his sixth year in office on Saturday having recorded crops of dignitaries who graced the event.
