The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has advocated for the creation of a Special Fund to compensate the South East for the losses they sustained during the Nigerian Civil War that left the region in complete penury in its aftermath.

The Governor among other recommendations stated this during the flag-off of the South-East zonal hearing on the review of the current Revenue Allocation Formula organized by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, in Owerri on Wednesday.

The Governor said the essence of the demand is predicated on the fact that the civil war resulted in losses of millions of lives where women and children lost their breadwinners and if for the reasons of Boko Haram there is the North East Development Commission, and for the sake of oil there is the Niger Delta Development Commission, then there is every reason to create a special fund for the South-East Development Commission to bring succour to the zone that was devastated and left in penury after the war.
