Our citizens have become jobless, economy and many other things affected negatively. The nation is in total darkness despite humongous investment in the power sector that may have ended up in private pockets.
The Arrest Of Our Noble National Dream And Consequence For Our Industrialisation
By Richard Odusanya
It is unconscionable, unbelievably shocking to see some of our infrastructures yet to be upgraded or in a state of total decay. First, it is important to inform our readers about the following:
- The Second Niger Bridge was conceived in 1964.
- The Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline was conceived in 1971.
- The Anambra, Kashibilla, Zungeru and Mambilla dams were conceived in 1975.
- The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was conceived in 1978.
- The Warri-Itakpe standard guage rail line was conceived in 1986.
- The Lagos-Kano double standard rail guage was conceived in 1982
- The Ajaokuta steel company was conceived in 1962.
- The National Steel development was conceived in 1966.
Corruption and infrastructural decay has completely undermined our advancement in the areas of industrialization and sustainability. Electricity production in Nigeria over the last 50 years has varied from gas-fired, oil-fired, and hydroelectric power stations, to coal-fired stations with hydroelectric power systems and gas-fired systems taking precedence.
Industrialization: What It Is, Examples, and Impacts on Society.
The Industrial Revolution led to unprecedented expansion in wealth and financial well-being for some.
A larger middle class emerged as consumer demand for more goods and services grew and business creation boomed to feed the demand. Other changes that helped bring about the Industrial Revolution included the use of steam, and later of other kinds of power, in place of the muscles of human beings and of animals. Therefore, the innovations allowed for mass production.
The Industrial Revolution brought about sweeping changes in economic and social organization. These changes included a wider distribution of wealth.
The Industrial Revolution transformed economies that had been based on agriculture and handicrafts into economies based on large-scale industry, mechanized manufacturing, and the factory system.
New machines, new power sources, and new ways of organizing work made existing industries more productive and efficient. New industries also arose, including, in the late 19th century, the automobile industry.
Furthermore, industrialization is the social and economic transformation of society from an agrarian to an industrial economy. Industrialization has brought economic prosperity; additionally it has resulted in more population, urbanization, obvious stress on the basic life.
Industrialization also exacerbated the separation of labor and capital.
Those who owned the means of production became disproportionately rich, resulting in what we have today as a nation.
Historically industrialization is associated with increase of polluting industries heavily dependent on fossil fuels.
With the increasing focus on sustainable development and green industrial policy practices, industrialization increasingly includes technological leapfrogging, with direct investment in more advanced, cleaner technologies.
Industrialisation is the period of social and economic change that transforms a human group from an agrarian society into an industrial society.
This involves an extensive re-organisation of an economy for the purpose of manufacturing. Industrialisation is the period of social and economic change that transforms a human group from an agrarian society into an industrial society.
This involves an extensive re-organisation of an economy for the purpose of manufacturing. This precedence is predicated on the fact that the primary fuel sources (coal, oil, water, and gas) for these power stations are readily available. Nigeria is considered as one of the energy-rich countries in the world.
No doubt, power is a critical issue as it concerns our developmental strides in all ramifications. This is majorly the reason for lack of advancement or retardation in the areas of industrialization and sustainability.
The sad reality is that many of our elites who are the players in that sector have become stupendously rich in billions but our beloved country Nigeria is completely down.
Conclusion: the failures in completion of the critical components and infrastructural decay is the real issue and the incoming administration should of necessity revisit such with a mindset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
