CONYSSA State Executives on Working Visit to NDLEA State Commander in Preparation for Youth Multi-Stakeholders Conference in Lagos State
In an effort to combat the rising illicit substance and Drug Abuse related issues within the state, Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security and Safety Affairs CONYSSA, State Executives on a special working visit to State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lagos State Command. The special visit aimed to discuss strategies and plans ahead of the
upcoming Youth Multi-Stakeholders Conference, which seeks to address the alarming drug-related challenges faced by the state.
The meeting, held at the State Headquarters of the NDLEA, have in attendance State Commander and along with all senior Management staff of the Agency. The CONYSSA State executives led by the State Coordinator, Amb. Akanni Michael, the purpose of the meeting is to created an avenue for collaborating with NDLEA to tackling the drug menace.
The State commander, Mr. Umar Isa Adiro, who spearheaded the meeting, expressed his deep concern over the escalating drug crisis within the state. He emphasized the urgent need for collective action and coordination among all stakeholders to effectively combat drug abuse and taking o illicit substance.
During the meeting, the CONYSSA State Coordinator, Amb Akanni Michael, presented a comprehensive report highlighting the gravity of the drug problem in the state. The report shed light on the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among youths, the influx of illicit substances into the state, and the link between drug addiction and other criminal activities. The State Commander NDLEA commended the Conyssa Excos for their commendable efforts in curbing drug-related crimes and pledged the agency’s full support in providing necessary resources and infrastructure to enhance the collaborative operations. He emphasized the importance of addressing the root causes of drug abuse, such as unemployment, lack of
education, and limited access to rehabilitation facilities.
The meeting was engaged in an extensive discussion, exploring viable solutions and innovative strategies to prevent drug abuse, strengthen law enforcement, improve rehabilitation services, and raise public awareness. The state commander NDLEA on behalf of the Agency reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote drug prevention, treatment, and social reintegration.
The outcome of this high-level meeting will lay the groundwork for the upcoming multi-stakeholder conference, scheduled to take place on 23rd July, 2022. The conference aims to bring together a diverse range of stakeholders, including government officials, law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, educators, parents, and individuals affected by drug abuse.
The forum will provide a platform to exchange ideas, share best practices, and develop a comprehensive action plan to combat drug abuse and ensure the well-being of the State’s residents.
As the state prepares for the conference, expectations are high that the collaborative efforts between the CONYSSA State Executives and the NDLEA will lead to concrete measures to curb the drug crisis. The collective determination exhibited by all stakeholders demonstrates a united front against drug abuse and heralds a brighter future for the state.
The multi-stakeholder conference will serve as a testament to Conyssa State’s commitment to prioritize the health, safety, and prosperity of its citizens. By fostering cooperation and implementing effective strategies, the state aims to create a drug-free environment that empowers individuals and nurtures a resilient community for generations to come.
