Nigeria’s Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has postponed his planned visit to Ondo State till Monday, February 20, 2016.
During the visit, the acting president is expected to commission the Ondo State International Events and Culture Center – The Dome, the Caring Heart Mega School at Ijapo Estate in Akure, and also hold a townhall meeting with stakeholders, monarchs, leaders, and youth groups of the Niger Delta region.
The acting president’s planned visit to Akure the Ondo state capital, Friday, February 16, 2017, was cancelled due to bad weather.
Osinbajo, who had attempted to land at the Akure airport earlier today, hovered for several minutes over the Akure airspace but could not land.
After waiting for several hours at the Presidential Lounge in Abuja with the bad weather not abating, Professor Osinbajo, reports say, communicated the cancellation to Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, who thereafter announced to the crowd awaiting his arrival at The Dome.
Governor Mimiko, proceeded to the Mega Primary School at Ijapo Estate to also address the pupils of the school and inform them that the event had been moved to
Overland Airline, the only commercial airline operating in Akure, had earlier cancelled it’s scheduled flight to Akure due to the bad weather.
