A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudom Nwuche, has commended the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the recent intervention in the ongoing face-off between the executive and legislative arms of government.
The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, recently led a high powered delegation to the National Assembly with a view to soothing the seeming frosty relationship between the Presidency and the Senate.
Nwuche, a chieftain of the ruling party, in statement yesterday in Abuja, described the move by Oyegun as a “laudable initiative and a good omen for Nigeria’s democracy.”
He said the party, the legislature and the executive are important components in constitutional democracy.
The former lawmaker said one of the important roles of a political party was to ensure harmony among the different arms of government.
“The party is the parent of both the executive and legislature; and every good parent must ensure that there is peace and harmony at home for the family to progress,” Nwuche said.
