The National President of the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC), Prince Vincent Okumagba has congratulated the Super Eagles and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the qualifications of the National team for the knockout stages of the on-going AFCON Cote d’Ivoire following their win over Guinea-Bissau in their final group match on 22nd January, 2024.
Reacting after the match yesterday, Okumagba who doubles as the Vice President of Africa’s Football Supporters’ body said Super Eagles are still in the race for the trophy. “I believe they will get better from now on.”
He added that “this year’s AFCON looks very unusual as no one is sure of any country coming up as clear favorites. Look at what happened to the host country, losing two important games in a row.”
Okumagba who led about 2000 of his members to Abidjan to cheer our national team said other so called ‘super’ powers in African football have been misfiring so far, stressing that this should be a consolation for us for making it into the round of 16.
He, however, cautioned that from now on, there should be no margin for error6. “I hope that our massive support will propel them to the finals and win the cup. Let’s do it Again.”
