Ike Ibe mourns Chief Iwuanyawu, says an Iroko tree has fallen

Former Speaker of the Imo state house of assembly Rt. Hon. Ike Ibe has mourned the passing of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday after featuring in the Big Talk program on Global Tv in Abuja.

Ibe lamented the death of the Igbo icon, likening his death to the fall of a big symbolic tree.

The former lawmaker pointed out Iwuanyanwu contributions to sports, business, nation building and goodwill politics both in Nigeria and Imo state.

“This is a sad day for Ndigbo and Nigeria. An Iroko tree has fallen again.

“We just lost a compassionate and completely developmental leader. My condolences to his family, friends and associates. Chief’s pivotal contributions to sports, nation building and economic growth will never be forgotten.

“May his soul rest in peace”. He said.

Chief Iwuanyanwu passed away on Thursday after a brief illness at the age of 82.
