Annang Community Pays Solidarity Visit to Newly Appointed Perm. Sec

The Annang Community in Abuja, led by the president, Adede Imoh Simeon, has paid a solidarity visit to Dr. (Mrs.) Emanso Okop Umobong, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary representing Akwa Ibom State at the Cabinet Affairs Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation(OSGF).

Dr. Umobong, a medical doctor by profession, was recently elevated from the Directorate Cadre to her current prestigious role, marking a significant milestone for the Annang people at the federal level.

The visit, which was highly welcomed by Dr. Umobong, saw the delegation come together to celebrate her elevation and show their solidarity.

The meeting began with an opening remark by Pastor Okokon Etoabasi, who highlighted the significance of Dr. Umobong’s new position.

During the meeting, President Imoh Simeon outlined the purpose of the visit, which was to congratulate Dr. Umobong on her achievement and express the community’s gratitude for her leadership. Adede Imoh used the opportunity to also share the history of the Annang Community in the FCT, acknowledging the roles played by early founders, including Chief Friday Udonah and Arc. Dr. Ekpo Nathan. Simeon raised key issues affecting the community, including the challenge of securing employment for skilled Annang people in the FCT and the need to address these concerns. He also discussed other financial obligations related to the community.

The president’s speech culminated in the presentation of a congratulatory card to Dr. Umobong, symbolizing the Annang community’s recognition of her achievement and their continued support.

In a heartfelt speech, Dr. Enobong Umoessien, a Trustee of the community, and member of the delegation, praised Dr. Umobong’s humility and noted that her appointment was well-deserved. He emphasized the importance of recommending Annang sons and daughters for leadership positions when such opportunities arise. He also expressed optimism about further opportunities for the Annang people in the current administration, citing the Senate President and other notable figures from Akwa Ibom State.

Chief Udonah, representing the Council of Chiefs, conveyed their congratulations to Dr. Umobong, urging her to leave a lasting legacy in her new role.

Mrs. Sylvia Inyang, speaking on behalf of the women, commended Dr. Umobong for her warm reception and noted the need for mentorship among Annang women in the FCT. She appealed to Dr. Umobong to serve as a role model, offering guidance to women aspiring to leadership positions.

The Youth Leader, echoing the sentiments of other speakers, expressed hope that Dr. Umobong’s elevation would be a stepping stone to other greater achievements.

In response, Dr. Umobong expressed her deep gratitude for the visit and support from the Annang community. She shared her pride in her Annang heritage, emphasizing her commitment to upholding the values of her people. Reflecting on her career’s journey, Dr. Umobong attributed her success to divine intervention and vowed to use her position to address the needs of the Annang people. She also pledged to work closely with the community to ensure their concerns are addressed.

The event highlighted the unity and solidarity within the Annang community and underscored the collective aspirations of the people for greater representation and support within the federal government.
