Shehu Of Dikwa Joins Vaccination Campaign, Urged His People To Accept It

His Royal Highness the Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim Elkanemi, has urged his constituents to ensure their children receive vaccinations against polio.

This statement was made during the launch of the polio vaccination campaign for the fifth Outbreak Response (OBR5) in Cingo Zarmaye Ward, a community in Dikwa town, the administrative centre of the Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Shehu emphasized the essential role that district heads, community leaders, heads of various organizations, religious groups, individuals, and families must play in mobilizing mothers and caregivers to participate actively in the polio vaccination initiative.

He similarly commended the state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum for his dedication to enhancing the health and safety of children in the state, deeming the campaign timely and critical.

He also underscored that polio is a preventable disease through vaccination, noting that immunization serves as the most effective safeguard against polio and, therefore, recommended that all infants and children receive the necessary immunizations to shield them from the adverse effects of the disease.

Mallam Gado Bulama, the State Supervisor from the Primary Health Care Development Board, also called upon health workers to ensure that immunization procedures are followed rigorously in accordance with professional standards.

On that regard, the Director, Primary Health Care, Dikwa Local Government, Ya Gana Ibrahim, represented by the Local Immunization Officer, Baba Mallam Baba, appealed to the community to present their children for immunization.

Additionally, the Health Educator for Dikwa Local Government, Mala Kashim, urged parents to utilize this immunization period effectively to have their children vaccinated.

The event witnessed the presence of traditional rulers, religious leaders, and government officials.
