Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, Pieter Leenknegt, met with Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, at the Finance Ministry headquarters in Abuja.
The discussions held today, centered on enhancing economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture and food security.
The Minister highlighted Nigeria’s improving economic outlook, citing declining inflation, stabilizing prices, and increased savings in the federation account as indicators of progress.
In reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to macroeconomic reforms, Edun acknowledged the initial impact of these policies on the cost of living but assured that they are already yielding positive results.
He emphasized the government’s focus on supporting farmers through favorable policies aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
In response, Ambassador Leenknegt expressed Belgium’s interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria, particularly in sectors that drive sustainable growth.
