The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has convened its first Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) Stakeholders Meeting of 2025.
The meeting held at its headquarters today, was to review key developments in the power sector.
Discussions at the meeting covered critical issues, including tariff methodology, the impact of the state transition on electricity supply, NESI liquidity, a financial evaluation of the market, and the transition to a multi-tier electricity market in relation to State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs).
NERC also directed electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to publish details of Meter Asset Provider (MAP) refunds on their websites.
The move is aimed at demonstrating consistency and commitment to the refund scheme while encouraging consumer confidence in the electricity sector.
The Commission reiterated its dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s electricity market by ensuring financial stability and improving regulatory oversight.
