The Executive Governor Of Benue State,His Excellency Hyacinth Iormem Alia said, only two local government areas of the state are experiencing insecurity by armed herders,Kwande and Ukum local government areas of the state but others are enjoying relative peace.
He made the statement on Saturday via his Chief Press Secretary Sir,Kula Tersoo.
9News Nigeria gathered that over Ten local government areas of Benue state are currently under the seige of Herdsmen namely:Logo,Ukum, Kwande,Agatu, Otukpo, Katsina-Ala,Gwer-West,Apa, Makurdi,Ohimini.
In what seems like the “twist of reality”,the governor has been speaking about relative peace why armed herdsmen continue to Kill in this place unabated.
According to the governor he was worried about the killings in the state especially that of Kwande and Ukum local government.
Recently,on AIT the Hon.Gbanwuan the D.G homeland security to Benue state government says the killings in Kwande were not true.
According to the Reverend gentleman;
“I share your pains, and I assure you that we will step up our response and prompt, too. Read my lips. The remorseless barbarity of these assailants and their sponsors will soon be a thing of the past.”
The Governor reemphasizes his love for Kwande, Ukum and the entire state, saying his government has never abandoned them, and will never abandon them just as he promises to ensure that the land of Kwande and Ukum and the entire Benue State is free from armed herdsmen invasion.
He sympathizes with the victims of the recent attacks on Kwande and further calls on security agencies to give the state their best by ensuring that the enemies of the state are caught and accordingly dealt with.
He also warns those who have been using his name to stir controversy in Kwande and other areas of the state to be wary of the potential consequences of their actions, submitting that he is the Governor for all and that he will continue to work for the good of all people, particularly the masses.
